Sydney Taylor is an American actress, who portrays the main character of Amelia in Disney+'s original series American Born Chinese.

General overview[]

Taylor began studying acting and performing at a young age. She booked her first role in 2017 on the hit drama series Nashville, starring Connie Britton and Hayden Pannetierre which she filmed while living in Tennessee before moving to California. Once in Los Angeles, she quickly landed the recurring role of Lexi on the Amazon Prime series Just Add Magic: Mystery City, as well as a recurring arc on the ABC series Splitting Up Together with Jenna Fisher and Oliver Hudson. Taylor will make her movie debut starring in the feature Marked Men, alongside Chase Stokes. In this film , she plays Shaw Landon, a young, independent woman who rejects any help from her wealthy parents and is the love interest of Rule Archer (Stokes). Directed by Nick Cassavetes The Notebook, Alpha Dog), it is the first of a six-part series adapted from the popular books by author Jay Crownover, and is set to release early 2024. In the Disney+ Original series American Born Chinese, Taylor stars as Amelia, a friendly "All American" girl who is Jin Wang’s classmate and crush. As the series progresses, we discover there is more to Amelia than meets the eye.

In February 2022, it was reported that Taylor, along with Michelle Yeoh, Ben Wang, Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Daniel Wu, Ke Huy Quan and Jim Liu were cast in starring roles for the aforementioned series American Born Chinese[1].
