Kelvin Yu is a Taiwanese-American actor, writer and is the series creator, executive producer and showrunner on the American Born Chinese series on Disney+.

General overview[]

Yu grew up in Los Angeles, where he currently resides. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles majoring in Film, Theatre, and Television[2]. In addition, he is also the Emmy® Award-winning writer/producer for hit shows like Bob's Burgers and Central Park. Other credits include Cloverfield (2008), and Grandma's Boy (2006). His other achievements include his Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production for the episode "The Hauntening" for Bob’s Burgers. In October 2021, it was announced that Disney+ had given a series order to a television adaptation of the graphic novel, American Born Chinese. It will be produced by 20th Century Television with Yu and his brother Charles Yu as writers and executive producers, Marvin Mar and Jake Kasdan as executive producers, and Destin Daniel Cretton as director and executive producer[3].
