General overview[]
He works in the Film/Entertainment industry and is a member of IATSE Local 800/839. Kim is a Senior Concept Artist with broad experience in all aspects in concepting/visual development. He is flexible in different styles for games, films, animations, and any other entertainment media. His specialties are: Characters, architectural/environments, keyframes, props/weapons, vehicles, storyboards and events.[3] On May 25, 2023, Kim released some character designs of Sun Wukong which alongside Cretton, Phillip Lim also helped bring it to fruition.[4] Then on June 7, 2023, Kim released some earlier rough concepts that led to the final character design of Guanyin. Kim went onto say that the lotus was a big theme for her and the shades of green overall was a nice complementary color to lots of reds we expected to see in the background throughout the show. They tried white hair for her at one point to really push the goddess feel but felt it was too much toward the western fantasy look. Then his designs were eventually brought to life by the likes of costume designers Joy Cretton and Prabal Gurung.[5]
